What is Grok Imagine?
Grok Imagine is the image and video generator from xAI, the company behind the Grok assistant. Its latest video model, version 1.5, turns a short prompt or a still image into a clip with matching audio. It is quick, tends to exaggerate motion and color in a fun way, and is especially good at stylized looks: anime, cartoons, claymation, pixel art and dreamy fantasy scenes.
Inside the Grok apps, Imagine is tied to your Grok plan. Here you use the same 1.5 model through an API: no Grok, xAI or X account, no monthly plan, and every clip lands in your own library with an MP4 download.
An example made on this site
The first clip came straight out of the generator above with the prompt shown; the second is the same kind of idea on an alternative model. Unmute them to hear the audio.
Grok Imagine 1.5 · 6s · 480p · 96 credits
“Anime style: a girl rides a bicycle down a hill by the sea, cherry blossom petals swirling around her, bright summer sky, cheerful mood”
Alternative: Seedance 2.0 · 5s · 480p · 135 credits
“A street drummer plays on a rainy night in a neon-lit alley, close-up on hands and drumsticks splashing water, then cut to a wide shot of a small crowd cheering under umbrellas, rhythmic drum beats and applause”
How to make a Grok Imagine video
- Keep Grok Imagine 1.5 in the model list — it is preselected on this page.
- Write the scene, starting with the style: “Anime style: …”, “Watercolor: …”, “Claymation: …”. Or switch to Image to video and upload a picture.
- Choose 6 or 10 seconds, 480p or 720p, and an aspect ratio — 9:16 for TikTok and Reels, 16:9 for YouTube.
- Press Generate. It is one of the fastest models here — our test clip above was ready in about 45 seconds.
The model responds best to lively, specific prompts. Name the style first, give one clear action, add a mood or color palette, and mention sound if you care about it. Leave real, identifiable people out of your prompts: our Terms do not allow videos of someone without their consent, and the model may refuse them anyway.
Where it shines, and where it struggles
After running the same prompts across every model on this site, a pattern is clear. Grok Imagine is at its best with stylized worlds: anime openings, cartoon mascots, toy-like 3D scenes and colorful fantasy, where its energetic motion feels intentional. It is also a good fit forquick experiments, because clips come back fast and a 480p draft is cheap.
It is weaker when a shot needs to look like real camera footage. Hands, small text and crowded scenes can drift, and it does not plan several cuts the way Seedance does. Long stories with a recurring character are easier with image to video: generate or design the character once, then animate that frame for every scene so the look stays consistent. If a prompt keeps failing after two or three tries, switch models rather than rewriting it a tenth time — the alternatives below cost about the same per clip.
Price per clip
Clips are billed by length and resolution, with sound always included. The table shows credits and the dollar equivalent at the $9.90 Starter pack rate; bigger packs add bonus credits.
| Grok Imagine 1.5 | ||
|---|---|---|
| Clip | Credits | ≈ Starter price |
| 6s · 480p | 96 | $0.95 |
| 10s · 480p | 160 | $1.58 |
| 6s · 720p | 168 | $1.66 |
| 10s · 720p | 280 | $2.77 |
A 6-second 720p clip costs 168 credits. Failed generations are refunded automatically, and credits never expire. Details and pack sizes are on the pricing page.
Grok Imagine alternatives in the same generator
It is fun and fast, but it is not the best tool for every shot. Because SiVideoGen runs several models from one credit balance, the alternative is one click away — same prompt, different model:
| Try instead | When you want | Clip price |
|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2.0 | multi-shot scenes with native sound and lip-sync | 135 credits · 5s 480p |
| Veo 3.1 Lite | realistic people and dialogue at a low price | 60 credits · 6s 720p |
| Kling 3.0 Turbo | fast action, sports and big camera moves | 112 credits · 5s 720p |
| MiniMax H3 Max Turbo | following long, detailed prompts precisely | 40 credits · 5s 768p |
| Wan 3.0 | smooth motion and 1080p output | 100 credits · 5s 720p |
For story-driven clips with dialogue and several camera angles, Seedance 2.0 is the closest upgrade. For photo-real people and voices, Veo 3.1 is the safer pick. The full comparison of every model is on the AI video generator page.
Frequently asked questions
Is Grok Imagine free?
In xAI’s own Grok apps, access and limits depend on your Grok plan and have changed several times. On SiVideoGen there is no Grok subscription: a 6-second clip costs 96 credits (about $0.95 on the Starter pack). New Google accounts get 60 free credits, which cover a Seedance 2.0 Mini or Veo 3.1 Lite clip.
Do I need a Grok or X account?
No. You sign in to SiVideoGen with Google or a one-time email link. We call the model through an API, so you never need an xAI, Grok or X account.
Does it make videos with sound?
Yes. Version 1.5 generates audio together with the picture — ambience, effects and voices — and the sound is included in the price.
Is spicy mode available?
No. Grok’s spicy mode is not offered here, and our content policy does not allow sexual or explicit videos with any model. Prompts that ask for them are declined before any credits are spent.
Can I animate my own image?
Yes. Choose Image to video, upload a JPG, PNG or WebP picture and describe how it should move. The output follows the shape of your image.
What is the best Grok Imagine alternative?
It depends on the job: Seedance 2.0 for multi-shot scenes with sound, Veo 3.1 for realistic people and dialogue, Kling 3.0 for fast action, and MiniMax H3 for long, precise prompts. All of them run from the same generator and credit balance.
